Sanders had a vocabulary that was both intriguing, as Archy McNally would say, and archaic. It gave the books a very special tone that is missing in the later books. You can read them as stand-alone puzzles or as a series, which I have been doing. I am currently on Book 8 and will stop after I finish it. Archy has a very unique style, manner, vocabulary and a great mind for finding the truth.
