This is my first-ever Pomegranate puzzle. I have to admit, there were a few points during this puzzle where I was cussing and had to take a break. The border was so difficult because a few of the pieces are cut so similar, they fit perfectly in a few different places. The pattern even matched perfectly! I wasn't sure if that was intentional and made to make the puzzle more difficult, or if it was more of an error on the cutting of the puzzle itself. I wasn't sure if I should be happy that it made it more difficult or if it was a sloppy mess. Either way, it made it interesting. This is the first puzzle I've ever done where I actually left the border unfinished and started in the middle. When it came to the "middle," this was a super fun puzzle to do. I absolutely love Gregory Blackstock's artistry - the buildings and writing underneath were incredibly cool. The variations in colors and patterns made the picture so "familiar" that I kept finding unsolved pieces and I'd know immediately which building they went to. I started getting chummy with the buildings - I'd find a beautiful spire and be like, "Oh, this is for the Taj." (Short for Taj Mahal.) It was cool.Anyway, I got to a point where I had only the border left, and it was mostly the bottom right border pieces that made no sense. I swore up and down that they shorted me a piece or had cut something wrong. Then I started taking apart pieces I'd already "completed" and trying them in different spots ... and lo and behold, it all came together. But IT HAD ME GUESSING UNTIL THERE WERE THREE PIECES LEFT! That's it - I had to get to three pieces before I was confident that I didn't get a defective puzzle! So is it puzzling genius on the part of Pomegranate? Or was it a mistake and sloppy-fitting-pieces on their part that made the puzzle so difficult? I can't say. I can say, however, that I love love love their selection of scenes and I will DEFINITELY be purchasing another of their puzzles with part of my gift card I got for Christmas. I consider myself an average puzzler and I completed this 500 piece puzzle in one day. The artwork made it easy, not the cut, so I will be trying something a little more difficult next time. Thanks, Pomegranate! I loved it!
