Product Description

Japanese Puzzle Boxes are handmade and each box is a Masterpiece! Work-of-Art! This box has the traditional "Yosegi" pattern and 21 steps (moves) you will need to execute to achieve the right combination that opens this amazing puzzle box. In order to open a Japanese Puzzle Box, you need to find the first piece (part of the box) you can move (by "move" we mean actually "slide"). This action causes other piece of the puzzle to "unlock" and allows you to move it too now. This is kind of a "chain reaction" where each piece you move partially unlocks other piece allowing it to be moved as well, and so on and so forth, so basically each move you execute allows you to execute your next move. When the right movement combination is achieved, the box will open (meaning you are able to slide the top panel and open the box). 1. "Sun" is the measurement of the box - the bigger this value is, the larger the box is. 2. The more steps your puzzle box has means the mechanism is more complex and therefore the box is more challenging and difficult to solve! The inside compartment size is: 3.25" L x 2.25" W x 1.4" H inches.

I had a puzzle box many years ago only it was at least twice the size of this one. I knew this box was small because I measured it on a piece of paper before I ordered this little box.I've always enjoyed doing puzzles and this little box is a lot of fun. I put some money in the box and now I will let family members try opening it. Of course, they keep the keep the money, if they open it.This wooden puzzle box is very sturdy and looks very nice on a desk or shelf. The directions weren't confusing for me because I had a puzzle box before. However, I can see where someone might be a little confused at first. Once you figure the first few steps out, it will be a little bit easier to solve. The only problem I had with this box is I couldn't open the bottom panel. Instead of returning the box, I used a flashlight to see what was wrong with the panel. I found a small piece of wood was blocking the panel from opening, so I used a knife to push the wood up against the lid and it corrected the problem. I'm now able to open that panel without any problems.I have this to my daughter who loves puzzles boxes. This was very challenging for her and it provides the instructions ! LOL all I can say is at 21 steps don’t lose the instructions !Bought it as a gift for myself because these boxes can get expansive. Great design; took 20 minutes and a few seconds total to solve throughout the day w/out using the instructions. Glad that I didn't try to use the instructions, because they looked kinda difficult for me to understand. Other than that; was a good level of difficulty when compared to a 5 step puzzle I bought when I first started out. After solving it, it made me want to get another and more difficult box. Farther leading into my addiction. But in a good way. At least, hopefully for my wallet's sake. Only warning I would give is for people not to try and bend the arms that slide out. As it seemed to possibly brake easily. So I wouldn't recommend to small children. These things are my go-to packaging when I need to give a gift of cash, but I want something more classy than a card, and maybe, just maybe, want to enjoy the schadenfreude that comes with watching them try to figure it out. This one could fit something a little smaller than a deck of cards, so a gift card or cash work well. The puzzle aspect isn't ~too~ tricky, once you've encountered this type before, and after solving it once, it's trivial to open or close it again. You're not going to fool anyone for very long after they figure out the first thing that needs to move. It's well designed though, and feels pretty sturdy despite the 'puzzle' aspects of it being basically attached to a thin veneer.Of course, it also looks good, and makes for a unique gift box. I'm sure I'll be getting more in the future.I got this as a Xmas present for a friend who likes escape rooms and puzzles and it was perfect for him. I put a metal Hanayama puzzle in the box after learning the box solution so that when he moved the box you could hear and feel something moving inside as a red herring. It is extremely hard to see the seams in this box and at 21 steps, it is not easily solved. I had bought a different type of puzzle box several months earlier which he solved in 15 minutes. This one stumped him and he asked for a little help. Eventually he got there but it took about 45 minutes. The box is all inlaid wood and is very pretty. Highly recommend this product!Purchased this as part of a graduation gift, to put a special pendant that was contained in a leather pouch inside. Was the perfect fit for my needs. We had a lot of fun opening and closing the box multiple times. I am glad I got the 21 step box as halfway through there is a trick that throws you for a loop - would have NEVER figured it out without the instructions (which we took multiple pictures of and made a copy before handing over to the grad ;-). The opening could have fit a gift card too (snug fit, but definitely fits). The workmanship was really nice, and only 1 place was kind of hard to get through (step 8), but not enough to be a problem. Would definitely order again. Wanted ones for us after this.I bought this as a gift for my husband who likes puzzles. It's beautifully made; I do some woodworking, so I know how hard this level of work is to attain. He really enjoyed it, although it only took him about 20 minutes to solve it. I think it took me longer when I opened it using the directions. :p I was planning on putting a deck of cards inside, but they wouldn't fit. I ended up with a little "Minion" figure about an inch tall, and a similarly-sized heart I carved from purpleheart wood with our initials on it. Those pretty much filled it up. Definitely a pretty little box, and very precisely made. This made a great gift. The only suggestion I have is to smooth it down a bit. The box can get stuck on the top sometimes.Unfortunately, my 16 year old granddaughter solved it, ( with me retaining the instructions hours away), in ten minutes. These are very expensive: this one was 21 steps, and the most that I could afford. I was hoping for more of a challenge.
